Fill in the Blank Friday (on Saturday)

1.  The last thing I do before going to sleep is  watch TV, set my alarm, and take my meds.

2.  When I can't sleep I   take a pill. :)

3.  The first thing I do when I wake up is    urinate, brush my teeth, and let the dogs out.

4.  When I'm tired I    am super irritable and any ole thing can make me cry.

5.  My dream bedroom would be    pretty similar to the one I have now! I love my bed... I love my TV... I love my jacuzzi tub... I love my awesome shower head... I love my walk in closet.

6.  If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning it would be    the date of September 3rd and I would be leaving for Jacksonville to board a ship to the Bahamas.

7.  The longest sleep I've ever had was    about 48 hours straight.

NOW for my bonus blanks because I slacked last week....
8.  I sleep on my     stomach.

9.  When I sleep, I like to wear     cheer shorts and a tee  .

10.  My bedtime is usually      between 10 and 11.  I'm getting old       .

29 July 2010

stressed to the MAX.

I honestly don't know if there is anyone in this world who has a more stressful job than I do. OK, I am only kidding. But, seriously... things are so rough at work right now that I come home everyday feeling like I have been beaten for 10 hours straight (both mentally & physically). I know I gotta hang in there... only 3 more weeks before school starts and things will start winding down.

People are starting to panic about their financial aid... and with good reason. The payment due date is August 5th & if they haven't paid by then... their classes will be dropped. Of course, everyone waits until the last minute to get their stuff together and so they are all scrambling, and crying in our office, and getting snappy on the phones... and it is enough to drive me bat shit crazy!!! In the month of July alone, I made 1275 return calls that were left on our voice mail. That is right...

KILL ME NOW. Thank the Lord for a 3 day weekend. Thank the Lord that it is almost over. Thank the Lord that I am going on a cruise in September and can forget about it all. Thank the Lord for the job.... but Lord, I pray that You help me get through this because it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel right now!

26 July 2010

I used to hate Miller Lite. I thought it was horrible! But somewhere along the way... over time... it has become my favorite beer. I don't like to drink anything else. Miller Lite all the way. And, I just found a new reason to love it... I present to you... Miller Lite Home Draft

and yes I picked one of these bad boys up on my way home from work... two seconds after seeing the billboard advertising it!

25 July 2010

like a child...

I thought I would enjoy this weekend so much because I would finally have the house all to myself & stress-free without B and the roommate. But, I have only ended up feeling lost and lonely... thank goodness he will be back tomorrow night and things will be back to normal.

On a lighter note... I found a sweet Volcom bathing suit at Marshall's for $4.99! Score!

24 July 2010

weekend to myself? hmm... not quite.

I have been so excited all week about this weekend. B has gone to Cooperstown to the Baseball Hall of Fame & took our roommate with him. I have the house all to myself to relax and unwind from stressful days at work, etc.

Correction: had the house all to myself.

My mom volunteered my house up to my bro, sister-in-law, nephew, and two nieces for the next two nights. I am stressing! I don't even know where people are going to sleep... I feel like I should offer up my bed, but I really don't want to spend the next two nights on an air mattress!

I thought about going to stay at a friends house while they are here... but I honestly don't know which friend I would stay with... they are all so busy with work and other things. I don't want to cramp their style, ya know? I most certainly do not feel comfortable sleeping in one of our roommate's beds... not too mention who knows what kind of filth are in those beds!

I can't go out now because they are here... coming in would wake them... especially if they are scattered about everywhere! HMPH!

Don't get me wrong... I love my family. I really really do! And I am excited about seeing them. It is just that I would be so much more excited about seeing them if they were staying somewhere else! :)

weekend recap

I was going to wait until my friend Emily posted her pictures up on Facebook so I could add to my already fabulous collection... but patience is not my virtue. I am sure I will add the pictures later on during the week whenever she gets to uploading them!

FRIDAY - I kept it simple after the horrific week I had last week. We had back to back orientation sessions and our office was a madhouse! I can't even begin to describe how busy it was... there are no words to describe it. Today was our last orientation session for a while... it was one day only and I saw 69 students today. If that tells you anything. Plus, we have over 100 voice mails to return when we get a free second to breathe. Ahhhh.... anyway, I rented The Crazies, and boy, was it crazy! I'm not too fond of gory horror films... I prefer more of a psychological thriller and I wasn't too impressed. I called it a night early.

SATURDAY - Emily came to town! To refresh your memory... (or for you new followers) Emily is the friend of mine who introduced me & B! She has since moved to Illinois and I miss her dearly. Anyway, her boyfriend's family does a week at the beach every July, so she was in town for that & made a trip to see us for the night! During the day... we went to the beach and the pool. Later that night... we met up with some more of our girlfriend's and partied a little too hard. It was all in good fun though, right? Here are some pictures...

I decided I had to climb in the tree

It was a process...

finally made it :)

SUNDAY - I rested. Like you are supposed to :)

On a more serious note, I have a prayer request for all of you. I got a very sad phone call this weekend. My best guy friend growing up had a great loss on Friday. His wife lost her baby and was due in four weeks. She wasn't feeling good so she went to the doctor and her blood pressure was super high. So, they did an ultrasound and there was no heartbeat. I cannot imagine the loss they are feeling right now. What makes it even worse, is that he doesn't speak to me. His wife doesn't allow him to... hasn't allowed him to since they've been married... and therefore I can't be there for him. So, all I can really do is pray and ask that all of you do the same!

I hope you ladies have a wonderful week!

Getting to know YOU

1. If you had to choose a country to live in besides USA (or the country you live in), which would it be? I hope I never have to live in another country. I love the USA! But, if I had to choose... I would probably choose somewhere like Costa Rica. It surely couldn't be terrible.

2. Which would be worse, wearing flip flops in the snow or wearing gloves in the summer? Mostly everyone chose wearing flip flops in the snow but I am choosing the latter. I wear flip flops all the time... rain, shine, snow, sleet, what have you. It wouldn't be that big of a deal to me. However, I HATE being hot. I couldn't handle having to wear gloves and have sweaty hands in the middle of the summer.
3. Fried or Bake and why? Fried. For sure. I know it is a lot healthier to bake food, but for tasting purposes... I prefer fried. My favorite?... fried corn on the cob! It sounds kinda iffy but it is heaven in your mouth!

4. If you were an entertainment reporter, which celeb would you love to interview and why? There are many.... Angelina Jolie because I think she is just mesmerizing. I don't really like her anymore because of that whole stealing Jennifer Aniston's husband thing... but you can't deny that she has some kind of something that makes you feel like she is glamoring you like a vampire! Taylor Swift because I think she is so fun! Wentworth Miller just so I could look at him! The list goes on and on and on....

5. What was your favorite book as a preteen/teenager? The Fear Street Series books by R. L. Stine

6. List your top 3 guilty pleasure television shows.  Tool Academy, Snapped, Women Behind Bars
7. What bumper sticker slogan best describes you/your attitude/your life?  This is a tough one... Horn broke, watch for finger?  Just kidding... I really don't know.
8. If you were to join a circus - what performer would you be? The elephant rider. How awesome would that be?

16 July 2010

all of the fun friday posts in one big post :)

Kelly's Korner

So here is the deal:

EX: Write about a single guy you know in a post and link up - please note when you link - where you live (state)..... and maybe his age........John D., 32, AR

My single friend is Brendon -

Me & BRENDO on his birthday!

He would absolutely KILL me if he knew this was up here! HA! :) He is 30 and lives in Myrtle Beach, SC. He works at the university where I work too (he helped me score the job!) in the IT department. He can fix any computer that takes a turn for the worse! He is such a great guy... he just always seems to end up with sketchy girls!

1.  A very nostalgic place that reminds me of being a kid is Camp Pine Hill in Bennettsville, SC. It is a baptist retreat where I went every single summer as a kid! Several summers I even went more than one week!

2.  If someone really wants to show me how much they love me they simply have to show me. Actions speak louder than words!!

3.  Lately I've been wondering a lot about if I will ever go to grad school. I highly doubt it but I really do want to!!

4.  When it comes to saving money I am  horrible! I have never been able to save money.

5.  I'd prefer     sleep    over    anything    any day!  (Ask anyone who knows me. There isn't anything I love to do more. I sleep seriously like 10 hours a night. I have to!)

6.  I wish I knew how to make quilts. I would make a million like the one Nan made me for my birthday. That thing came this week and I am sleeping like a baby. B is too! He calls it the Ambian quilt.

7.  I'm just waiting for September.... cooler weather.... football.... our cruise!
FRIDAY FIVES: Five things you do to relax, destress, contain your composure or that you just enjoy doing for yourself!
1. Smoke
I know... it is terrible. A disgusting habit. I quit for months at the time. But anytime something really stresses me out, it is the only thing that calms me down. I WILL quit for good before I'm 30. Plus, B said he would never propose until I quit smoking! :)

2. Go for a drive... particularly down a back road, windows down, music up. It always drowns out whatever problems I have... clears the head.

3. Read - I can't think about anything else. I lose myself in a book.

4. Sleep.... I said it earlier... but honestly, nothing cures my stress like my bed does. Nothing.

5. Call mama. If all else fails, call mama.

My favorite cocktail is as simple as a vodka cranberry. I'm more of a beer girl. But when I drink a cocktail, it is always a vodka cranberry.

1. Do you collect anything?
Nope. Except maybe clothes?

2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.
1) Wentworth Miller
2) Channing Tatum
3) Jake Gyllenhaal

3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind it (them?)?
Do I have scars? Are you kidding me? Where do I begin? Scar on my chin (fainted in shower), scar on my elbow (fell off a moped), scar on my toe (jumped on a broken Mt. Dew bottle barefooted while running).... those are the biggest ones.

4. What is a food that you like to eat, but others might think it's gross or weird?
Umm... I mix ranch dressing & ketchup and eat my fries with it.

5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life?
No. Biggest fear. I'd crap my pants.

AWARD!! & weekend recap

My weekend was a pretty great one. Friday night, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my gal V didn't have to work that evening. So, we went out to eat at Sticky Fingers & had a mellow evening out at a small local bar... where we spent the majority of the night playing darts.

My cousin & his girlfriend met us out for a little while too. DON'T HAITI.
I made B tag along with us too!
I had to show off the anklet my friend Brandy made me :)
You know I had to get my hot pink toenails in there too!

I kept it lazy alllll day on Saturday. I did absolutely nothing & it was wonderful. On Sunday, me & B went to church & listened to a great sermon about relationships. After church, we ate lunch at a local restaurant and spent the rest of the day at the pool with the roomie & a girlfriend of mine joined us too. It was such a great day!

In other news - I received another award! YAY! A big thanks to Same Sweet Girl: Memoir of a Southern Belle for giving me this award!

The rules for this award are to thank the person who gave you the award, share ten things about yourself, pass this award onto ten bloggers who you recently discovered and think are fantastic and finally contact the bloggers to let them know you’ve picked them for an award. So, without further ado...

1. I am completely accident prone/clumsy/magnet for disaster. I have injured myself with a security tag on a piece of clothing. I have had an iron fall on my head. I have had to get stitches twice within the matter of three months. You might want to keep your distance.

2. I am more than obsessed with Clemson football. I did not attend school there, but both of my parents did & so I was born and raised rooting for them. I even have the Tiger paw tattooed on my hip. It is funny... I've had it for about five years now, my parents have no idea, and they would kill me if/when they ever find out!

3. I have at least two boyfriend's that are currently in prison. Yes, prison... not jail. As embarrassing as that is to say... this of all places is where I can be honest! I haven't made the best decisions in the past when it comes to the guys I date. And by best, I mean I must not have been thinking at all! One I dated when I was 19 & he was arrested years later for selling cocaine. He was sentenced to 8 years. When I dated him, at least to my knowledge, he didn't do cocaine, or sell it, for that matter. The second one was quite the delinquent at an early age. We were friends for a long time before we dated & it just kind of turned into a short lived relationship. He is just stupid more than anything else... he always got in trouble for the most minor things, but then he would do something stupid... like run from the cops! and get himself into more trouble. I am happy to say that I am done with that phase of my life and have a good guy now!!

4. I have had over 20 jobs in my lifetime. I have waited tables, worked at a gas station, worked in retail, worked at grocery stores, worked as a secretary, worked as a manager, you name it. My track record with jobs is about equivalent with my track record for bad guys.

5. I put butter on Sweet 16 doughnuts and heat them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Sounds totally gross, but try it. You won't be sorry.

6. I always sit Indian style, no matter where I am. I sit Indian style in a booth at a restaurant, on the couch, in my desk chair. I can already feel the arthritis setting in.

7. I have two dogs. Well, one is technically B's... but I claim him as my own. Baxter is my half Jack Russell/half Chihuahua mix. Brady is B's Greyhound. They are total opposites of each other, but it works out well that way.

8. My favorite movie of all time is Shag: The Movie. If you haven't seen it, you need to. It was set in Myrtle Beach in the 60's and is about a girl who is about to get married & her friends take her on a surprise bachelorette party! Trouble, of course, ensues!

9. My biggest pet peeve is laying in the bed with dirty feet. I cannot and will not sleep with dirty feet. B thinks I am so weird because I am always cleaning them before bed :)

10. I have no talent. Seriously, I can not do one thing better than most.

NOW.... ten bloggers I have recently discovered that I think you should check out that I pass the award along to!

1. According to Christa
2. Brittany's Blessings
3. Leigh Ashley
4. Ok, Dan
5. Resisting Perfection
6. Ashley's Antics
7. The Pickerill Life
8. This Kind of Love
9. Synfully Delicious
10. Jeune Marie

09 July 2010

pure excitement.

I have three things coming in the mail next week that I couldn't be more excited about!

1) The last time B's mom was here, I picked out fabric for his Nan to make me a quilt for my birthday. She is amazing at it! It is funny because I am really funny about the type of bedding I sleep under. (Ugh! I hate ending a sentence w/ a preposition, but I really can't think of a better way to word it right now. Anyway...) I bought this really cute bedding from Overstock.com when I first moved into this house, and when we received it, I hated the way it felt. But, B loves it! So, he sleeps under it and I sleep under a smaller quilt that Nan made years and years ago. I use it to lounge around on the couch and then when I go to bed, I take it with me. When B's mom found out about this, she got the idea that Nan could make me a quilt for my birthday. She bought the fabric when she was in town & shipped it to Nan--who, I can't believe is already finished with it! I don't say it enough, but his family is AMAZING! Anyway, she e-mailed yesterday to say it was on its way. It will be the size of our bed (B will have to put up his bedding) and it will look similar to the one below... but way more intricate and awesome!

2) There was a stupid mix up with the website where B ordered my birthday watch. Remember the pretty blue/white Swatch? It never arrived! So, B contacted them & they said somehow it never got shipped. Well, a week later- it still hadn't arrived! Come to find out, the website didn't have the watch in stock and just never mentioned it. They said they were just going to send it whenever they got it in stock, which could be weeks! Needless to say, he canceled the order and ordered it from another site. Feeling bad about it, he paid for express shipping (which I emphasized was not necessary) & it should be here early next week!

3) I finally found something my mom could get me for my birthday. She kept asking and I could never come up w/ anything... so, she just told me to wait until I found something & I did today! Editor's Closet  was having a Coach sale today. I called up mama and she got me this beauty for only $164. Its retail value is $358!

So, those are the three items will be receiving in the mail this week!! :) Since my cruise is paid up for... I think I might treat myself to the following items soon, as well.

On Sale: $29.95

Steve Madden

Why not get the black too?
I have wanted suede heels forever now.
Might as well get both pair - I can wear them with everything.
As soon as fall comes, of course.

Etsy's Ritzy Misfit
I want a turquoise/teal one like Jillian has though!

Max & Chloe
