give the gift of giving

Despite the fact that I absolutely did NOT need another reason to shop online, I found one! I do most of my shopping online because as much as I love buying new things... I hate the actual task of shopping in a store. I hate trying on... I hate the crowds... I hate the constant "How can I help you?" or "What are we looking for today?" WE are not looking for anything... I am... now leave me alone! :)

I know that some of you like to shop through ebates, but I found a more worthy site than that. Perhaps I am the last to know about this website... but nevertheless, I am happy I found it. I was purchasing a Christmas gift for a family member online & I was buying them a charity item when I thought how great it would be if a portion of every gift I purchased was donated to a charity! I did some researching and found igive.com.

There are thousands of stores listed on their website that donate money to your cause of choice every time a search is even performed. On top of that, the store determines a percentage (ranging from 26% & to 0.4%) they wish to donate when you make your purchase. You simply start your shopping experience at their website and click on the store where you wish to shop (just like ebates), they track your purchases, and donate the percentage of your purchase within 30 days in the form of a check.

The best part about the website is that you get to choose which cause you want your percentages donated to and you can even choose local organizations! It lets you know exactly how much has been raised for your cause monthly, yearly, and life-to-date. It even gives you a chart breakdown of the dollar amount of the check sent to your cause each month.

My cause of choice is RAINN - Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network.

I chose this cause because of my past volunteer experience with our county's local Rape Crisis Center. I know it is a legitimate cause and I have seen first hand how network's and crisis centers help abused victims. To date, RAINN has raised $2,534.05. That is awesome! Unfortunately, the last time they received a check was in November of 2009 because at the cause's request... they don't send a check until it reaches the amount of $25 or above. Anyway, I just finished almost all of my Christmas shopping through this igive... & it really makes me feel amazing knowing that a small percentage of my purchases will be donated... & every little bit helps!
